QR codes have long been heralded as the future of PoS but largely outside of China have struggled to achieve any sort of scale. The resurgence of QR codes for retail payments across Southeast Asia seems to be gaining momentum. What's required to achieve standardisation? What additional value can be extracted for retailers and consumers, both offline and online? How does the commercial proposition stack up against the alternatives?
