With the advent of super apps and national instant payments clearing systems branching out into retail, what is the outlook for the card schemes in 2019? National card schemes still dominate but alternative payments or shifts in the value chain is creating a state of flux. How can national and international card schemes play a role in these changes and more importantly what new value can be created for consumers and businesses. How will a card product, a piece of tech from the 1970s, evolve?
