Who owns an identity
If digital identity is key to the evolution of financial services, then the ownership and control of that identity is a matter for serious discussion and debate. Do we expect governments to step in with an identity, do we hope to co-ordinate private sector initiatives, do we ask the banks to solve the problem for the of us or do we decentralise into a world of “self-sovereign” identity. What are the implications of each of these approaches?

What role will biometrics play in identity?
As biometric technologies continue to evolve, they deliver security and (potentially more important) convenience into the mass market. So where do we go next? How should we look at integrating biometrics into large scale, customer-facing and business-focused identity solutions. What kind of characteristics do we expect from the technology (now and next) and how are we going to exploit the technology effectively?

Standard Chartered Lunch & Learn - The impact of technology on human behaviour: Implications for FinTech and financial services industries
Forensic yberpsychologist, Professor Mary Aiken, will deliver a lunchtime talk on the impact of technology on human behaviour with a contextual emphasis on FinTech and the financial services industries.  She will outline a paradigm shift in terms of official acknowledgement that ‘cyber’ is actually a place, an environment, and why we need to pay attention to this new ecosystem. As a cyber behavioural profiler she will demonstrate how human behaviour can change in cyberspace. Powerful drivers such as anonymity, online disinhibition and psychological immersion, along with the minimization of authority online, dictate that people can act very differently in cyber contexts.  She will argue that there is an urgent need to adopt new cyber behavioural scientific approaches and analysis, in order to understand human and criminal behaviour mediated by technology, particularly in the finance sector.
