Forensic yberpsychologist, Professor Mary Aiken, will deliver a lunchtime talk on the impact of technology on human behaviour with a contextual emphasis on FinTech and the financial services industries. She will outline a paradigm shift in terms of official acknowledgement that ‘cyber’ is actually a place, an environment, and why we need to pay attention to this new ecosystem. As a cyber behavioural profiler she will demonstrate how human behaviour can change in cyberspace. Powerful drivers such as anonymity, online disinhibition and psychological immersion, along with the minimization of authority online, dictate that people can act very differently in cyber contexts. She will argue that there is an urgent need to adopt new cyber behavioural scientific approaches and analysis, in order to understand human and criminal behaviour mediated by technology, particularly in the finance sector.
