Emily Parker is the co-founder of LongHash, a blockchain incubator and data journalism platform. LongHash has offices in five countries.
Previously, Emily was a member of the Policy Planning staff at the U.S. Department of State, where she advised on Internet freedom and digital diplomacy. Emily is a former staff writer and editor at The Wall Street Journal and a staff editor at The New York Times. She is the author of "Now I Know Who My Comrades Are: Voices From the Internet Underground," which is about the Internet and social media in China, Cuba and Russia.
Emily was the Chief Strategy Officer at Parlio, a Silicon Valley start-up that was acquired by Quora. Emily was the China advisor at the Markle Foundation, where she consulted on the potential for China and e-commerce to create American jobs.
Emily speaks Chinese, Japanese, French and Spanish. She graduated with Honors from Brown University and has a Masters from Harvard in East Asian Studies.
