CEO
Simon Black is a seasoned business executive with over 25 years international experience. He is highly regarded within payments, leading two of the industry’s success stories over the last 10 years.

Simon joined PPRO Group as CEO in March 2015. This followed a decade with Sage Group PLC where he held the position of Sage Pay CEO for seven years, driving dramatic growth. Most recently, Simon led PPRO Group to secure a $50 million USD investment led by PayPal, with participation from Citi Ventures and return investor HPE Growth Capital. This will enable PayPal consumers to shop seamlessly across borders through the new PayPal Checkout with Smart Payment Buttons.

Simon is an authority and ‘go to’ fintech expert on the effect of Brexit on the financial industry, appearing on ITV News, Tonight, BBC Radio 4, BBC World Service and China Central Television. His leading thoughts on Brexit, the cashless society and PSD2 have recently been widely published in international media, with highlights including The Guardian, Forbes and The Wall Street Journal. Simon is also a regular speaker at highly-regarded industry events such as Money20/20, Internet World and eCommerce Expo.

Simon has an MBA from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and holds extensive experience in consulting and business. In his early career he founded a marketing software start-up company and made an impact as a senior strategy and brand consultant both in the USA, where he lived for six years, as well as in the UK.
